Homemaker Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
A HOMEMAKER is a non-licensed member of the Home Care Team who assists the client with the home tasks of daily living. Specific details outlined in a written Care Plan that is prepared by consumer’s Home Care Team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate with consumer and carry out instructions
- Must have reliable transportation to and from assignments.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have a satisfactory work record, with experience as Homemaker preferred.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English. Second language encouraged but not required.
- Ability to physically perform job duties and keep up with the demands of the job.
- Must be able to follow direction and accurately report issues to Manager, Home Care Services
- Must exhibit mature, responsible behavior and support consumer confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of the Companion may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Housekeeping for Consumer, such as change bed linens, dusting, vacuuming, clean kitchen, bathroom and laundry.
- Record and report changes in client diet, nutrition, and hygiene
- Cook, prepare, and serve meals and/or snacks.
- Assist consumer with household weekly grocery and shopping
- Document services delivered in accordance with New Day Home Care Agency policy in the Client Care Service Delivery Logbook.
- Assist consumer with planning recreational activities to maintain active schedule
- . Maintain open communication with client on service delivery completion
Homemaker MAY NOT:
- Administer or pour medication as mandated by law.
- Cut the fingernails or toenails of client
- Perform any personal care for the patient including toileting, hair care, oral hygiene, bathing and grooming.
- Have any unsupervised access to any Client’s personal information, financial and banking info, debit and/or credit cards, etc.
